Raymond Perez is a Wirral UK based oil painter of Christian art and portrait paintings. Raymond is a self taught artist with no formal art education and his instinctive technique has developed over time. His main influences are Rembrandt and Caravaggio, both of whom he refers to as "pure genius". Raymond works in oils on Daler Board.
It was not until 1990 that Raymond started to paint prolifically, though before that date he had painted a number of miniature paintings. In 2000 he won the 'People's Prize' at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead for his painting 'The Conductor'.
Raymond Perez: "I was born in Liverpool in 1940. My love of art has been with me since childhood, I would sketch anything and everything, even when working abroad I would always have my sketchbook with me.
"Eventually when settled back in the UK and took early retirement I found I was at my happiest working in oils, and painting portraits.
"I have had numerous commissions and in 2000 won the 'People's Prize' art exhibition at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead, Wirral."
Raymond accepts commissions for portrait paintings from photographs. Please contact us to commission a portrait. All of Raymond's paintings on this website are available as open-edition giclée prints.
